For all of you bakers out there…this one is for you. These cinnamon cookie ornaments are easy to make and they smell won. der. ful. Not just when you make them, but I get a lovely whiff of them every time I pass by my tree. They should not be eaten though! I found this recipe over at Katy Elliott’s blog…so head over there for more pictures and instructions!

Here is what you’ll need to have together:

1 cup – applesauce
1 1/2 cups – cinnamon {I got mine at the Dollar Store}
2 Tablespoons – ground cloves {optional}
rolling pin
heart cookie cutters
plastic straw or skewer

Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Mix the cinnamon and applesauce together in a bowl. Add in the cloves once you have gotten most of it mixed. I started using a spoon and then switched to using my hands. It takes some elbow grease to get it completely mixed together. If it’s too wet…add cinnamon. If it’s too dry…add more applesauce.

Once it is all mixed together and forming into a nice ball,  prepare a surface to roll out the dough by scattering some cinnamon to keep it from sticking.  Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut out the hearts with your cookie cutter and place a hole in each heart {I used a plastic straw}. Place on cookie sheet and place into the preheated oven for 1-2 hours. After mine were done, I turned my oven off and I left them in the oven overnight. They should be hardened and ready to hang on the tree!

It’s time to link up! Remember: Any Christmas related blog post is game {recipes, crafts, Christmas family photos, family traditions, etc}. Be descriptive in your titles!

The rules:

1.) You may link up a different blog post once every day for a total of 12 entries.

2.) You must submit a direct link to your post…not just to your blog’s homepage.

3.) Your entry/entries may be submitted anytime between now and midnight on December 12th.
Tweeting, pinning, “liking” & sharing on Facebook, instagraming, etc are not required for you to enter, but it would be awesome if you would do what you can to spread the word….whether you are entering a link or not.  Spread the love! :)
